Master of Arts

Students may enter the serious game design track with professional experience or a degree in game design, computer science, art, psychology, education, advertising, journalism, and interactive media. Alternatively, students may come from a background in a content domain to which they want to apply serious games, such as environmental science, political science, or health.
The Serious Game Design (SGD) track is formally part of the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media Master of Arts degree. The Serious Game Design plan of study includes a 15-credit required core, a thesis (Plan A) or project (Plan B), and an optional internship.
Electives and optional internship are carefully selected to enhance each student's intended area of secondary expertise and must be approved the student’s academic advisor and the Director of Graduate Studies. Possibilities include media studies, advertising, journalism, computer science, education, epidemiology, horticulture, museum studies, education, cognitive psychology and professional writing
The Master of Arts program in Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media typically takes four semesters to complete.
